Taking Woodstock follows Elliot Tiber, a struggling motel owner in upstate New York, who inadvertently helps bring the legendary Woodstock Music Festival to his small town.

By offering his land after another venue falls through, Elliot becomes a key link in organizing the event. As hundreds of thousands of people arrive, he experiences the chaos, freedom, and cultural shift of the 1960s firsthand, while also gaining personal insight into his own identity.
